Farewell My Love
By Kitana

Before any small detail had registered in his mind he was moving slowly away from her in an attempt to lengthen their last moment together.
His fingers locked tightly round the handle of his bag, gradually turning white with all his tension. He was so desperate to turn round and gaze upon her face, but even that small thought scared him more than ever and he would know that the deep burning pain within his heart and soul would intensify even more and with that he knew that he would simply and swiftly return to her embrace never leaving her again.

However he had to leave…

He stopped in his tracks head slightly arched, he could see her form as a shadow, arms locked around herself and probably tears of sadness rolling down her pale cheeks. In that frantic second all he wanted to do was make her happy, to stop the pain in anyway possible.
He sighed, caught up in his thoughts and choices just like a trapped fly in a spider’s web.

One hand passing through his brown hair he walked cursing himself to hell for his decision.

She watched him from afar, the distance between their bodies growing by the second. She couldn’t stand it; it was tearing her up inside, such a long and silenced torment.
She could still smell his faint aftershave on her skin, she closed her eyes and for one moment it felt to her that he was still near her, his hands and arms wrapped around her body in such a tender and warm embrace. She sighed opening her eyes only to feel her heart break again and his warmth cooling about her.
Although her heart was breaking she still didn’t call out to him, though the thought had crossed her mind, she even contemplated running up to him and begging him to stay forever, but she knew it would only be a failed attempt, he was set on leaving and watching, helplessly, that was what he was doing.

She stood still in the glare of the afternoon’s sun, a warm orange glow encasing her, but she didn’t feel warm only cold and empty.

She gently wiped her tear soaked cheeks and whispered to the distant figure, “Farewell my love…”
